Our Vision
Vision:
We want to be a gathering community - welcoming everyone into a place of belonging and significance.
We want to be authentic disciples - learning what it really means to follow Jesus with our whole hearts and whole lives.
Woking Vineyard exists to love God, to love others, to grow in God, and to serve the world.
Loving God is about discovery, worship, surrender.
Loving Others is about the one-another life of the Body of Christ, belonging, and expressing our gifts for the benefit of others.
Growing in God is about being personally transformed as we seek wholeness, freedom and maturity in Christ.
Serving the World is about being light and love in the world, touching the lives around us, living the Message.
Values:
Values are underlying convictions that impact our behaviour. As a church, we hope that our values are evidently expressed in everything we do – in our worship, our teaching, our relationships, whatever. They essentially direct the way we “do” church.
Christ-centred:
We aim to put Jesus Christ in the centre of everything we do because he deserves no less.
Honour:
Firstly, to honour God with reverence and humility, acknowledging Him as the holy, righteous and awesome Creator of the universe. Secondly, to honour one another with love, respect and genuine concern.
Unceremonial:
Christianity is about relationship, not religion. We want people to meet with God in an accessible way, avoiding unnecessary ceremony or religiosity.
Relevant / Real:
Jesus drew ordinary people (fishermen, tradesmen, tax collectors). He avoided jargon and spoke in simple parables about everyday life. We want to continue being real, normal and relevant in the way we communicate.
Contemporary:
We want to express ourselves in a contemporary way that reflects who we are outside of church. The service structure and the music are some of the ways we do this.
Honest:
We value being honest with God and with each other, being sincere and feeling free to express things like disappointment or frustration.
