- Consider the many generations that lived in history before the arrival of Christ, waiting for a Saviour. Reflect on the privilege we have now of living on ‘this side’ of the Cross - in this time where grace has been revealed.
- Is there anything hindering you, keeping you living on the wrong side of the Cross? Bring that to the Cross, place it down, and pass to the other side.
- Restore and retain child-like wonder, living in anticipation and openness to the freedom, joy, and adventure God has for you.
Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
C.S. Lewis At the name of Aslan each one of the children felt something jump in it's inside… Peter felt suddenly brave and adventurous. Susan felt as if some delicious smell or some delightful strain of music had just floated by her. And Lucy got the feeling you have when you wake up in the morning and realise that it is the beginning of the holidays or the beginning of Summer.
C.S. Lewis Aslan said, “Have you not guessed?... The term is over: the holidays have begun.”
Matthew 13:17 (NLT)
I tell you the truth, many prophets and righteous people longed to see what you see, but they didn't see it. And they longed to hear what you hear, but they didn't hear it.
1 Peter 1:10-12 (NLT)
Concerning this salvation, the prophets, who spoke of the grace that was to come to you, searched intently and with the greatest care, trying to find out the time and circumstances to which the Spirit of Christ in them was pointing when he predicted the sufferings of the Messiah and the glories that would follow. It was revealed to them that they were not serving themselves but you, when they spoke of the things that have now been told you by those who have preached the gospel to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven. Even angels long to look into these things.
Psalm 18:19 (NIV)
He brought me out into a spacious place; he rescued me because he delighted in me.
Romans 5:2 (NLT)
Because of our faith, Christ has brought us into this place of undeserved privilege where we now stand, and we confidently and joyfully look forward to sharing God’s glory.
Romans 5-8 (MSG)
We find ourselves standing where we always hoped we might stand—out in the wide open spaces of God’s grace and glory, standing tall and shouting our praise… Each of us is raised into a light-filled world by our Father so that we can see where we’re going in our new grace-sovereign country… This resurrection life you received from God is not a timid, grave-tending life. It’s adventurously expectant, greeting God with a childlike “What’s next, Papa?”
