- Bring your whole life to Christ - every gain, asset, advantage, profit, credit, accomplishment - and surrender it at His feet. Ruthlessly evaluate your heart, and repent of all pride or performance based religion.
- Receiving the free gift of grace, pursue a deeper knowledge of Christ’s love for you. Determine to only live out of the experiential knowledge of this love and acceptance.
But whatever were gains to me I now consider loss for the sake of Christ. What is more, I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them garbage, that I may gain Christ and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ—the righteousness that comes from God on the basis of faith.
Brennan Manning: Our huffing and puffing to impress God, our scrambling for brownie points, our thrashing about trying to fix ourselves while hiding our pettiness and wallowing in guilt are nauseating to God and are a flat denial of the gospel of grace.
