- Recognise that you are part of a much bigger narrative of God’s kingdom mission in the world. How does that impact your mindset and attitude towards change, discomfort, and sacrifice?
- Ask God to expand your ambition and desire to see multitudes enjoying God’s glory in worship. What discomfort will you endure to ensure others get to know Jesus?
It has always been my ambition to preach the gospel where Christ was not known
Hebrews 12:1-3 (NIV)
Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy that was set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.
John Piper: Missions is not the ultimate goal of the church. Worship is. Missions exists because worship doesn’t… Worship, therefore, is the fuel and goal of missions. It's the goal of missions because in missions we simply aim to bring the nations into the white hot enjoyment of God's glory. The goal of missions is the gladness of the peoples in the greatness of God.
