- Build your faith by reminding yourself of miracles that God has performed in your life, and others' lives.
- Be honest with God about any unbelief, or any disappointment with unanswered prayer. Invite him into your emotions and thoughts, bringing his truth and peace.
- Determine to be bold and persevering in your prayers, knowing that with God anything is possible.
[Jesus] asked them, "Do you believe that I am able to do this?"
Bill Hybels: The real reason my prayers were weak was that my faith was weak. When my heart is not persuaded, I don’t pray about difficult situations and ask God to fulfil pressing needs. You’ll make a few wishes on your knees, but you won’t be able to persevere in prayer until you know in your heart that God is able.
Dallas Willard: the idea that everything would happen exactly as it does regardless of whether we pray or not is a spectre that haunts the minds of many who sincerely profess belief in God. It makes prayer psychologically impossible, replacing it with dead ritual at best.
